Recycling

Η Expanded Polystyrene - EPS is one of the most widely used recyclable synthetic materials. It is collected all over Europe in various locations. Unlike other insulation materials, polystyrene is easily recycled.

The producers EPS recycle:

  • the processed products and the scrap which they incorporate into the products,
  • waste from used packaging, which is collected and used in new products or in the production of primary materials.

The insulation with Expanded Polystyrene has a long lifespan in buildings and for this reason, at present, there is little need to recycle thermal insulation products, as EPS does not decompose and does not deteriorate. At the end of its life cycle it can be recycled in many ways.

The EPS can be melted and compressed in order to create PS compact polystyrene, which is a starting material for items such as pots, coat hangers and wood substitutes or other materials from which paper or utility items such as serving trays, toys, etc. can be made.

As part of mixed plastic waste, the EPS can be recycled to make, for example, posts for fences and road signs, ensuring a long and useful new life. Worldwide, the production of expanded polystyrene and total recycling consumes many times less energy than other insulation materials.

Expanded polystyrene is 100% recyclable. In the UK and other countries, it is recycled at higher rates than glass or aluminium.

EPS Expanded Polystyrene is recycled at a rate of 100% and in multiple ways and methods.
